Lying Wounded Warrior Temple of Aphaia
Lying Wounded Warrior Temple of Aphaia
🔹This 3D printed copy captures the essence of the pedimental figures from the Temple of Aphaia on Aegina, dating back to around 500/490-490/480 BC. Considered among the most famous and beautiful of all Greek marble sculptures, these figures depict scenes from the Trojan Wars, where Greeks and Trojans are engaged in violent conflict. At the center of both pediments stands Athena, the tutelary goddess of the Greeks, in a majestic pose.
Originally excavated in 1811, the fragments of these marbles were relocated to The Munich Glyptothek in 1827. In 1815, Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen began work on completing ("restoring") the missing parts of the group of fifteen. However, controversies arose regarding these restorations by the late 19th century, leading to their removal in 1963-1965. The full collection of 'completed' Thorvaldsen models is held by SMK, while the original marbles remain housed in the Munich Glyptothek.
Experience the grandeur of ancient Greek art with this meticulously crafted copy, perfect for art enthusiasts, collectors of classical sculptures, and admirers of Greek mythology.

🌟Post-3D Printing Process🌟
To ensure a smooth and flawless finish, each piece undergoes several steps after 3D printing. Initially, we carefully sand the object to eliminate any rough surfaces. Next, we apply a primer to prepare it for painting. The piece is then hand-painted with great attention to detail, and finally, we varnish it to ensure the paint remains vibrant and long-lasting.
📌Our products are lightweight due to the 3D printing process. The weight may be surprising when held, as it cannot be accurately judged by appearance alone. Generally, they weigh under 500 grams. Despite their lightness, our 3D printed items are more durable and resistant to impact. If you prefer a heavier product, we can add weight upon request, though this will incur an additional shipping fee. Please contact us for more details.
